LOGICAL LIES

10 Logical Lies

(Continued from EdWorld At Home)

These logical problems are called fallacies, which means they're false, but if used by accident, they're not really lies. If they're used deliberately, well, they are lies. But it's your job as a good citizen to politely point out the fallacy and then to ask the person to return to the previous point that was being discussed before the fallacy took the argument off the road.

  1. Ad Hominem / Ad Populum
  2. Either-Or
  3. Hasty Generalization
  4. False Analogy
  5. Red Herring
  6. Straw Man
  7. Emotional Language
  8. Post hoc ergo propter hoc
  9. Non Sequitur
  10. Circular Argument / Slippery Slope
