Point out to students that Escher's imagery often included asymmetrical natural forms and that he believed insects are best recognized from above.
Invite students to create a picture of an insect that incorporates some of the techniques used by Escher, such as repeated patterns, geometry, tessellations, asymmetry, and so on.
