Iditarod Brrrreathes Life Into Tired Curriculum (Brrrr!)
Brrrr… Alaska in March sounds like a cold place to be. But if you're looking to brrrreathe life into tired lessons -- or if you simply need to engage students who have a little cabin (or classroom) fever -- March offers a "teachable moment" no teacher should miss! Included: Ideas for activities for language arts, geography, math, history, spelling, more!
If gloomy February has you down, or if your idea of "March Madness" is students climbing the walls of your classroom, you might consider giving your tired lessons a breath of fresh air. A visit to the curriculum doctor -- who happens to be dispensing liberal doses of the Iditarod -- might be the perfect antidote to what ails you and your students.
Whether you live in Fairbanks or Florida, following the Iditarod Trail Sled Dog Race is a great way to actively involve students in learning across the curriculum. This week, Education World offers five lesson ideas to help you do just that!
