Overview: Students work individually or in small teams to enter the imaginary contest "Taking Freedom For Granted." For the project, each student or student team completes two assignments. First, they write an essay about freedom in America. Second, they choose and complete one of the following activities: create a scrapbook about freedom in the United States; make four posters about the Four Freedoms; or develop a multimedia presentation about freedom. As students complete the research necessary to complete those assignments, they also answer the12 questions on The Four Freedoms WebQuest Worksheet. In addition, students complete the Bibliographic Citations Worksheet to create a bibliography of the online and print resources they used.

Notes: This extensive WebQuest includes resources for bibliography formats and copyright rules. All links are active on the posting date for this project.

In the Resources section, students can go to the directly to the site containing Norman Rockwell's Four Freedoms posters by clicking the link Powers of Persuasion: Poster Art from World War II.
