CONTENT:
Switcheroo Zoo is a fun, interactive site where students will enjoy watching animals morph into other animals right before their eyes.
AESTHETICS:
The front page of the site is a little busy, but the graphics and sounds of the internal pages are awesome. The Flash plug-in is required and can be downloaded at the site.
ORGANIZATION:
Visitors can access various areas of the site via the front page. Users may also choose an animal from the image map in the zoo area. A handy help section provides tips for using the site.
REVIEW:
Invite students to play mad scientists and create all sorts of animals using the body parts of at least nine featured animals. Students will definitely find this site fun and fascinating as they watch one animal morph into another right before their eyes. But the real value of it is to have students create an animal and write a creative story about it or create a fact sheet about their newly created animal. The animal pictures can be printed to be included in the stories. If students watch closely, they will see hidden animals as the morph progresses. Included are facts about the animals, a game to play, lesson plans for creative writing and science, as well as links to related sites.
