BlackDog! The Site for Kids
Fun and educational interactive activities.
GRADE LEVEL: Pre-K - 8, Parents

http://www.blackdog.net/

CONTENT:
This site provides hours of activities for kids and young teens! The content is appropriate for these grade levels, and much of the area is fun in addition to being educational. Some of it is just for fun, however.
AESTHETICS:
The site has colorful, child-friendly pictures. An advertising banner appears at the top of every page. On some pages, the cursor is quite distracting, but children may not be bothered by it.
ORGANIZATION:
Links are available on each page to each other section. In addition, there are links for Kids and Teens that include the more age-appropriate activities from each section. A search function is available to use, if needed.
REVIEW:
This family-friendly site opens with a colorful drawing and the sentence "BlackDog has all kinds of neat things to see and do." Links include Billy Beaver's Game Show (arcade games like Missile Command and puzzles that can be played online or downloaded and played offline) and Miss Kitty's Storybook (stories to read or finish with Miss Kitty). In addition, a page explains how to write a story, covering the following elements: sequence, characters, setting, problem, and resolution. Miss Kitty also provides a section where you can play with word magnets to build your story. The Internet Refrigerator (think "refrigerator art") has several online coloring books and some that can be downloaded. The Post Office offers child-friendly e-cards to send to others. Patty Parrot Bird Brain Jokes is just what it says -- jokes to please every kid! There is a Holiday section with games and activities for every holiday. Finally, the link You Belong at the Zoo offers online and other games and activities about zoo animals! The entire site is attractive and very child-friendly!
