On-Line Practice Modules
Tutorials on popular software, aimed at teachers, staff developers, and students!
Grade Level: 9-12, Professional

http://www.internet4classrooms.com/on-line.htm

CONTENT:
This collection of in-depth tutorials offers detailed instructions for using some of the more popular software programs, including the Microsoft Office suite, Inspiration, and HyperStudio, as well as basic computer skills for both PC and Mac. There's also a tutorial for creating a WebQuest. Caution: As the software packages evolve, some details within these tutorials may go out of date; most of the tutorial content, however, seems to be about basic tasks, which remain quite stable over time in major software packages.
AESTHETICS:
The site features a simple, user-friendly format with a few appropriate graphics and easily read text.
ORGANIZATION:
Tutorial titles are represented on the front page as pieces of a puzzle. Each tutorial has an annotated table of contents and a link back to the main page.
REVIEW:
These are solid tutorials for teachers to use with students or staff developers to use with teachers. Each tutorial includes step-by-step instructions for each operation, a student assignment, and quizzes to check learning. Many of the tutorials include handouts, worksheets, and samples that can be downloaded and used in the classroom. For instance, the PowerPoint tutorial not only includes instructions for completing a basic slide show and a slide show for teaching addition, but also has instructions for advanced features, integration ideas, slide shows that can be downloaded, and links to other sites with downloadable presentations. There are thirteen tutorials available, including Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Inspiration, Microsoft Works, DreamWeaver, and WebQuest.
