AESTHETICS:
The site is mostly text-based, with few graphics, and with a layout that is straightforward and user-friendly.
ORGANIZATION:
The content is organized by topic and can be browsed by topic or geographic area, or searched by keyword. Users can click the browsing choice in the left menu. There is also a menu of links on the right side of the page.
REVIEW:
Healthy School Environments was developed as a "gateway to on-line resources to help facility managers, school administrators, architects, design engineers, school nurses, parents, teachers, and staff address environmental health issues in schools." It is truly a one-stop source of information and links that will answer all of your environmental questions. Topics include everything from energy efficiency to indoor and outdoor air quality to waste removal and water quality. The resources on the site and linked to from the site cover the full range of sources, having been developed by the EPA, other federal agencies, states and local governments, and the private sector. Included are quick links to EPA programs for schools, such as the Indoor Air Quality Tools for Schools Kit, which can be ordered free of charge, and the program Integrated Pest Management in Schools.
