REVIEW:
This site, designed by the U.S. Department of Energy, provides lots
of energy information and resources for students and teachers from
mid-elementary to the high-school level. Although most of the links
are targeted for students in the middle of this range, resources and
links could be adapted for either age group. The site links back to
the energy.gov
site and provides lots of valuable information on the Department of
Energy, its history, and work. The KidsZone page also has a link to
the Energy
Dictionary with links to more than 30 sites that provide definitions
for energy terms. KidsZone highlights a featured site on its main
page. These sites are chosen for their timeliness and value in energy
resources and science education. The Quick Links listed on the KidsZone
homepage offer students opportunities to enter contests, learn about
current events, and test their knowledge with online games and quizzes.
There are also links to articles and suggestions for creating science
projects. The Teaching
Tools section has lesson plans, activities, and links to photos,
science museums, and other valuable teaching resources in this area.
