REVIEW:
New Horizons for Learning was begun in 1980 with a goal of identifying,
researching, communicating, and implementing successful educational
strategies. This Website was designed to further this goal. Over the
years it has been updated and enhanced to provide information on areas
significant to educational communities at all levels. New Horizons
focuses on seven major areas -- teaching and learning strategies,
news from the neurosciences, student voices, transforming education,
special needs/gifted, perspectives on the future, and lifelong learning.
Each of these areas is included on the site with bibliographies of
relevant articles and resources and related links. In some areas,
case studies are available describing how the educational topic has
been implemented. In the Teaching and Learning Strategy section, areas
covered include applied learning, cooperative learning, democratic
classrooms, learning styles, multiple intelligences, technology, and
thinking skills. The current NHFL Journal is available at the site,
as well as archived copies of past journals. The newest section of
the site is Student
Voices in which student contributions to educational reform are
celebrated and researched.
