REVIEW:
This site is designed for parents to use with their children but many of the activities
here could also be done in the classroom. Toys are grouped into eight categories
according to the scientific topic addressed. Topics include magnetism, electromagnetism,
electrochemistry, radio, thermodynamics, aerodynamics, light and optics, and biology.
Each topic includes easy-to-follow directions for the toys, a list of materials
needed and an explanation of the scientific principle. Most of these can be made
in a few minutes from simple household materials. One of the more difficult and
fascinating creations is the plastic hydrogen bomb, a high tech squirt gun, that
teaches the principle of electrochemistry.
