Cosmology: The Study of the Universe

	CONTENT: “Cosmology is the scientific study of the large scale properties of the Universe as a whole.” This site explores in depth the Big Bang theory that is broadly accepted as the origin and evolution of our universe.
	SITE DESIGN: This site is divided into five topical areas listed in the left side margin as well as a table of contents for “Cosmology 101” on the bottom portion of the main page.
	REVIEW: Teachers and students (or anyone interested in the Big Bang theory) can explore the theory in detail at this site. The five sections offer the foundations of the theory, observational tests, limitations and extensions, our universe, and related topics. Many questions about our universe are explored such as, How fast is the universe expanding? How much matter and what types make up the universe? What is the shape of the universe? How did we get from the Big Bang to the human search for extraterrestrial life? Will the universe continue to expand forever, or eventually collapse? Other related topics are also discussed such as the first objects in the universe, the Milky Way, and the life cycle of stars. Terms within the text are hyperlinked to the glossary making the text more easily understood.
