REVIEW:
This informative and fun site will surely motivate students to learn more about the tissues that make up the human body. Users can begin by clicking on slides of the four types of tissue; connective, epithelial, muscle, and nervous, to see how each type of tissue looks under a microscope. Each sample also includes an explanation. The body scan allows users to take a close up look (30x magnification) at such parts of the body as the scalp, tongue, under arm, and many more. If that isn’t enough, the body slices show close-up images of real human body slices such as the shoulder, brain, aorta, and ankle and the scar gallery includes many different images of scars. Users can also explore the labs of a hematologist, wound researcher, and virologist as well as watch video interviews with real people who work in each field; read the interactive comic about stem cells and the latest news in human tissue research; or use the list of Web links to learn more about tissues. Students will enjoy taking a break and playing the interactive games.
