REVIEW:
The International Reading Association’s Web Resources puts lesson plans, tips and strategies, information and resources at the fingertips of teachers, parents, policymakers, or anyone interested in promoting literacy. The Teaching Tools include research-based lesson plans that are classroom-ready. Lesson plans are grouped by grade (K-2, 3-5, 6-8, 9-12) and include standards as well as student objectives -- everything you need to implement them in the classroom. Included in this section are the Choices Booklists that are developed by teachers, children, and young adults from their favorite recently published books, and parent resources that help parents in their “critical role as their children’s first and most important teachers.” The Issues in Literacy section addresses issues involving reading and reading instruction, including the latest news releases, articles on key topics, position statements, reports, and research. A Literacy Community offers a number of online discussion forums, events and updates, and literacy links. Included is a Career Center where literacy professionals can browse for new opportunities in literacy education.
