REVIEW:
Teachers and students will find lots of useful information and resources for teaching and learning more about the universe and space at Cosmic Journey: A History of Scientific Cosmology. The material is divided into two main areas; Ideas and Tools. The Ideas section begins with an introduction of the Greek worldview and continues to the start of cosmology and the mechanical universe, island universes, the expanding universe, the Big Bang Theory, and the continuing journey. The articles include images and links that can be clicked for further information. The second section, Tools, explores the tools used to study cosmology, from the naked eye to the first telescopes, from the golden era of refractors to early reflectors and spectroscopes, and on to more modern satellites. Included is a list of resources for further reading that includes both print and online materials. |
