Born to Explore: The Other Side of ADD
http://borntoexplore.org/
GRADE LEVEL: Parents, Professionals

CONTENT:
This site offers an alternative perspective on ADD and ADHD with some good information on creativity, assessment, and other factors not usually taken into consideration.

AESTHETICS:
The layout is simple with few graphics and lots of text.

ORGANIZATION:
Users can navigate easily with a left-side menu. There is also a handy site map with topics listed by category and an on-site search tool for finding information quickly.

REVIEW:
Born to Explore is written by Theresa Gallagher, a mother who doesn't buy into the premise that attention deficit disorder (ADD) and attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) are brain disorders. Alternatively, she focuses on the positive qualities associated with the labels. The site includes lots of general information on the subject and articles and resources that focus on creativity, temperament, intelligence and giftedness, nutrition, and allergies. Any or all of which may be the source of the behaviors associated with the ADHD and ADD labels. Teachers, counselors, and parents alike will find articles of interest here that may change their perception of children who exhibit behaviors that are generally attributed to ADD or ADHD.
