CONTENT:
This site, from the University of Miami, has a database of more than 4,500 abstracts of children's books.
AESTHETICS:
This bare-bones search page has a few small graphics.
ORGANIZATION:
A right-side table of contents provides access to the main areas of the site. Users can search the database by keywords or Boolean combinations.
REVIEW:
Preschool to third-grade teachers will find this to be an invaluable resource for creating thematic units. The database of more than 4,500 children's book abstracts and related links is fully searchable by keywords, including topics, concepts, and skills. This site makes easy work of finding the literature basis for your thematic unit. Each entry includes the title, author, and abstract. Included is a list of related keywords for finding other books with similar themes. Parents may also find this site useful for finding books appropriate for their young children.
