Treasury's Page for Kids
http://www.treas.gov/kids/
GRADE LEVEL: 3-12

CONTENT:
This Web site is part of the Web site of the United States Treasury Department.

AESTHETICS:
The graphics and layout of the site would appeal to very young children. However, the information presented at the site is for older students.

ORGANIZATION:
All of the information available at the site has a link from the main page. Each section has its own icon. The sections are numbered on the front page so that users can move through the site in a tour-like manner. Viewers use their back button to return to the main menu.

REVIEW:
The front page of this portion of the United States Treasury Department's Web site looks like it has information for young students. The graphics and layout cater to a younger audience. The information here, however, is more suitable for older and high school students. Viewers will find links to the U.S. Mint, the Treasury Department, and the Federal Reserve Bank of New York. Users can learn about savings bonds, the history of money, and counterfeiting. This site could be used by math teachers for some lessons in finance and interest. Other teachers could supplement a lesson on the government or economics with some of the information found here. Educators should look over the site and pick from different categories to decide which information will be useful for them.
