The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) is the federal agency responsible for providing help before and after a disaster. The agency's Web site has created a section just for kids. Students can learn about the agency as well as common beliefs and misconceptions about disasters and disaster relief. Kids can download coloring pages, play games online, or read stories. In the photos section, users can view images of kids helping during disasters. The resources for teachers and parents include guidebooks, mailing lists, and related Web site links. This is a very useful site, particularly during times of disaster. Educators should preview the site before disaster strikes. Lesson plans can be presented to familiarize children with disaster and disaster relief, in case the unthinkable should happen.
