REVIEW:
The site, assembled and partially written by Dr. Craig A. Cunningham from Northeastern Illinois University, reports that "one of the major goals of schools has always been to affect the values, habits, and social behavior of students." The historical synopsis of the movement of character education in America explains that while some private schools still stress character education it has been slowly pushed to the side in public schools by a focus on academics. This website provides resources and information so that character education can once again become a large part of the public education system in America. Because many of the private schools and institutions mentioned in the introduction are based on religious beliefs there are both religious and secular resource links. Resources include institutions and educators with an interest in character education as well as internet and non-internet based literature and information. There is a wealth of balanced information here and would be interesting reading for both educators currently aware and practicing character education as well as others new to the subject but interested in learning.
