Catching the Light -- Astrophotography
http://www.astropix.com/INDEX.HTM
GRADE LEVEL: 9-12

CONTENT:
Catching the Light -- Astrophotography is dedicated to the art of capturing the universe -- and beyond -- in photography. Here, you'll find an inspiring library of astrophotographic images and some great advice about how to make your own images with a simple camera and a telescope!

AESTHETICS:
This site has high-quality graphics without the high-tech plugins! The images might take a little while to load with a slower modem, but they are well worth the wait.

ORGANIZATION:
The site offers a variety of ways to navigate -- you can use the index page, browse the site map, or view the pages one by one like a book by using the site's handy back/home/next buttons in the top right corner of each page. The images are divided up by season of visibility in the night sky.

REVIEW:
Science teachers will love this site for its awesome image library, but that's only a small part of what's available here! Catching the Light -- Astrophotography is a treasure trove of insight into the art of creating your own images of the night sky using a basic 35 mm camera body attached to the lens of a telescope. Information is given on basic techniques, types of equipment and software needed, plus special tricks the author has learned through many years of experience. A special section is devoted to the digital manipulation of intergalactic images. This is an excellent resource for astronomy classes, science clubs, GT classes, and the extra-curious science teacher!
