B
Poetry4Kids
http://www.poetry4kids.com/
GRADE LEVEL: K-5

B CONTENT:
A collection of poems for children written by one author. The site also has links to other poetry areas on the Web as well as resources to help children practice writing poetry.

B AESTHETICS:
The site uses some animation and some graphics. The design of the site has a good use of spacing.

B ORGANIZATION:
The navigation menu at the top of each page lists the sections of the site and uses a different color for each. The current section on the bar loses its color so users will always know where they are.

REVIEW:
While the site features the works of one author, the links section allows users to find other resources on the Web related to poetry. These include children's poets such as Dr. Seuss and Father Goose as well as nursery rhymes. There are also links to classic poetry books such as The Mother Goose Pages and "A Child's Garden of Verses" by Robert Louis Stevenson. Additionally, teachers can use the poetry writing resources listed for lesson plans in English and creative writing. These references include rhyming and regular dictionaries, Roget's Thesaurus and "Children's Writing Resource Center." The poems created by the author can also be used to supplement lesson plans (some are based on particular themes) for younger children, as examples to teach poetry writing to older children, or for adult classes studying children's poetry or creative writing. This is a well-rounded site that offers a lot.
