Inclusion -- A hotly debated topic in these days of school
reform is inclusion: the practice of integrating students
with disabilities into the general education classroom. You
think that inclusion:
A -- Is a good idea, if there is appropriate in-class
support for the disabled students; and appropriate training
and planning time for the teachers.
B -- Is not a good idea. The dual system of special and
general education works best for everyone.
C -- Can work under certain circumstances, but isn't always
the best idea.

Character Education -- A number of schools in the U.S. have
adopted programs meant to instill core cultural values in
their students. What do you think about this kind of
education?
A -- Values-enriched education is a great way to help kids
learn how to be responsible and respectful students and
citizens.
B -- The home is a better environment for children to learn
the values that their parents choose to instill in them.
C -- If a school creates a harmonious environment in which
children can observe values, like respect and cooperation,
in action, then such a program can be successful.

School Choice -- The basic idea of school choice is to take
the control of education away from school boards and state
legislatures, by letting parents and students decide which
schools best fit their needs, thereby creating a free
market. You think that school choice:
A -- Should be more widespread. It will solve problems in
education, because the market will respond to needs better
than the current system can.
B -- Is not effective. A system of school choice won't
improve the quality of learning, it will promote segregation
and undermine the very idea of public education, leaving
only the most disadvantaged students in public schools.
C -- May work in certain districts, but should not be
considered as a replacement for the country's current public
school system.
