Best of '98 Header

Since its launch in July of 1996, Education World's audience now views nearly 1 million pages per month! Besides it's Home Page and Search Results Page, here is a listing of our viewers' favorite spots.

1.      Browse by Topic (Category Tree)

Over 6,000 education-related topics listing over 110,000 links, and growing all the time! Browse categories for Teachers, Administrators, Parents, and Students, plus a full Subject Guide with thousands of links to resources in Arts and Humanities, History, Math, Physical Education & Health, Science, and Social Science! This category tree makes it easy to find the EDUCATION-RELATED resources you need! No wonder this is our viewers' favorite page!

2.      Lesson Planning

Education World's Lesson Planning stories offer an assortment of cross-curriculum activities connected to topics of timely interest. In 1998, Lesson Planning stories focused on a couple dozen holidays and celebrations (from Groundhog Day to Black History Month) and on timely events such as El Nino, the debut of the movie Antz, and November's Leonid meteorite showers. Other stories offered ideas for using timelines in the classroom, teaching with stamps, creating ABC books with students in grades K to college, incorportating physical activity into your daily lessons, and developing students' time management skills. Special stories offered more than 25 activity ideas for getting to know your new students; using books in the classroom; and teaching current events or geography.

In 1998, Books in Education stories highlighted new books from authors David Shannon, Eve Bunting, Walter Wick, Cynthia Rylant, Tedd Arnold, and Bill Cosby. We reviewed collections of new books related to teaching themes such as bugs, nutrition, winter, math, and Earth Day. And we introduced a new atlas; a handful of new biographies; books of poems; and activity books to use with students to teach about presidents, geography, giving oral reports, and using the Internet.
