INCORRECT LINKS

Problem:

  • "The following link doesn't work; http://www.education-world.com/maillist.html. Thanks"
(Correct URL should be: http://www.education-world.com/maillist.shtml)

I was unable to go to this link."
(Correct URL should be: http://www.education-world.com/a_curr/curr176.shtml)

  • "Error that the Link does not exist has occured. Hope to view this information soon."

Solution:
Every day, Education World gets queries from users who have come to an Education World page that does not exist. How does this happen? Education World is linked to from thousands of pages across the Internet, and its URLs are published by many print and online sources regularly. This means that URLs may get published incorrectly. Following are some hints on how to find the resources you are looking for:

  1. All files on the Education World Web site end in .shtml
  2. Education World often uses an underscore "_" in file names or directory structures, rather than dashes. With hyperlinked (underlined) URLs, the underscore is often overlooked or replaced with a dash.
  3. The "Link Does Not Exist" page at Education World always includes the Site Guide. Take a minute to read it and find the area you were looking for.
  4. All Original Articles have archive pages. Simply go to the desired Original Content section and look in the Section Guide to find relevant articles. A Master "By Date" page exists for all of these sections, allowing easy searchability of Article Titles.
  5. Education World offers an Advanced Search option to make searching more fine-tuned to its user's needs.

USER QUERIES

Education World is unique in many ways-one of those ways is in the way we respond to your queries. For each query or question related to Education issues, we take the time to respond to our users with answers.

Here are some of your questions:

  • I am looking for information to help facilitate the teaching of animal tracks and scat to 6th graders at an outdoor school site. In particular, which animals place back feet in front tracks? What is the term for this? Which animals leave claw marks in the tracks? Can you tell if an animal is searching for food just by the tracks? I would appreciate a response in answering my questions. I was hoping for examples of different animal tracks including those which drag a tail.

  • Some teachers at my school use writing as a punishment. I believe this will hurt students because they will view writiing as punishment. I have no evidence to support this position. Can you direct me to resources that will help me to rid our district of this terrible practice?

  • I am interested in going back to school to become a teacher. I need some help as to what the requirements are and which schools in Michicgan would be the best to attend.

  • I am looking for sites/resources for a action research paper I am currently working on. My focus is on Peer Mediation and Conflict Resolution - do you have any leads for me??

Here are some of your words of appreciation:

  • Thank you so much for taking the time to help me. I viewed the web sites tonight and found that they were very helpful. I will be sure to recommend you to friends when they are doing similar research. Again, thank you for your time and consideration.

  • Thank you so much for the information. I'm afraid that while I am comfortable on the internet, searches are still difficult and intimidating for me.

  • Your website is the best! I work at the Clark County Education Association. We are associated with American Fidelity and represent over 10,000 members. I always encourage teachers who are interested to check out your site first and foremost. Let me know if there is anything you would like me to post in my office regarding your great site.

  • Thank you very much indeed for your most comprehensive and speedy answer to my question.I am sure I will draw much profit from your cluster of choice information. Ps: you are welcome in my country any time!
