  • NASA's Virtual Skies
    Grade: 9-12
    This Collaborative Project will offer an in-depth look at air traffic management and NASA's research into aviation operations systems and safety. Students will learn about airport design, aviation navigation, meteorology for aviation, communication, the air traffic management systems, and future flight research through interactive tutorials and simulations. Students will have opportunities for online chats with NASA Researchers, air traffic controllers, pilots and others involved in the aviation industry. They can also view research facilities such as the Future Flight Central and the Crew Vehicle Research Facility through Web casts.

  • NASA's Planetary Flight
    Grade: 5-12
    Planetary Flight will cover atmospheric and non-atmospheric flight as it pertains to designing an aircraft. The classroom materials included in the "Teachers Desk" section provide a problem based learning approach and demonstrates how these materials can be integrated into a 5-12 curriculum.

  • Mission Eros: A Rendezvous with an Asteroid
    Have you ever looked up in the sky and seen a shooting star? Have you ever wondered what would happen if such a "star" ever decided to head towards Earth and was big enough to threaten us? This project will help you find out more about these earth asteroids, and how much they might threaten our planet.

    The Bayer/NSF Award program, now in its fifth year, takes middle-schoolers through a rewarding process, teaching them how to use science and technology to identify a community problem and develop a solution.

  • Space Day 2001 Design Challenges
    In the Space Day 2001 Global Classroom, K-8th graders can team up with students around the world to tackle the challenges of living and working in space. The project includes problem-solving activities to engage students in meaningful learning experiences, using skills such as critical thinking and teamwork.

    The Thirteenth Annual Conference on Ethnographic and Qualitative Research in Education will be held on Saturday and Sunday, June 2 and 3, 2001 at the State University of New York in Albany, New York.
