(Oklahoma City) -- Imagine over 25,000 visits to your office from all over the world in just one day. Now, imagine that your office is accessible 24 hours per day, seven days each week. That is what is "virtually" happening with Concourse C, Inc., home of Education WorldŽ. Each time the Education World server is accessed, visitors "hit" the Education World server in Oklahoma City.
Just in time for Back to School season, the Education WorldŽ servers relocated from Dallas, Texas to their new home in Oklahoma City. The Education World's NT and Ultra Sparc UNIX servers are now housed in the Concourse C, Inc.'s new office, in the east building of American Fidelity Group at 2000 Classen Boulevard.
In addition to its new home, Education World was just named the world's best education Web site on the Internet (FamilyPC July/Aug 98).
"It's amazing that these servers are accessed thousands of times every day from all over the world," said Rob York, executive producer of Education World and president of Concourse C, Inc. "We have educators and education experts using our Web site from New York City to Los Angeles to even Moscow."
With the servers in-house, technical support can be performed in a timelier manner. "We no longer rely on Netcom, the Internet service provider in Dallas where it was previously housed for support. When our system detects an error or we need to update the system, I can physically walk to the server and make necessary changes," said Larry Norris, systems administrator for Education World.
Even better than trouble-shooting, users have much faster access to Education World. Director of development Jon Koerber said, "Now that the servers are located in-house, we have guaranteed bandwidth, much better reliability and substantial cost-savings. It's another sign of our growth and improvement for Concourse C, Inc. with better end-user satisfaction."
The servers were originally co-located in Dallas due to facility limitations. According to Koerber, CCI now has all the equipment and services to support the ever-growing demands of Education World, including office space, multiple dedicated T-1 lines, DNS (domain name servers) and mail servers.
