(Calera, Okla.) --- The Education World "Grants for Educators" program presented Calera Public School and teacher, Chris Swan, its first-ever grant on February 3, 1999. Presenting the award was American Fidelity Educational Services representative Val Wheeler. District Superintendent Rick Webb and Principal Jimmy Parrish joined Swan and Wheeler at the ceremony.
Swan was awarded a $250 grant to buy educational software and materials. Swan said, "The grant will help to raise the seventh grade overall geography test scores and promote renewed enthusiasm and joy in the study of our great world."
The Grants for Educators program is made possible through a special relationship between FirstUSA and Education World. Together, they are joining forces to reach-out to the education community via a new Education World Platinum Visa card. Issued by FirstUSA and designed with educators in mind, the card supports education by contributing funds to Education World's new "Grants for Educators" program each time the card is used.
The "Grants for Educators" programs provides up to $500 grants for educators on an ongoing basis. The focus of the "Grants for Educators" program is to facilitate the education process through effective utilization of the Education World Web site. Educators interested in this program may apply for the Education World VISA card or for the grants via the Education World Web site at www.education-world.com.
