Full Project Description

Now in its fifth year, Space Day is the global celebration dedicated to the extraordinary achievements, benefits, and opportunities in the exploration of space. The goal of Space Day is to advance math, science, and technology education. Over 70 prestigious Partner organizations connect with millions of students, educators, and parents to initiate and host activities that will excite children's imaginations and launch them in a lifelong love of learning about the universe. In the new millennium, space will bring many exciting opportunities. But with new opportunities come challenges. We think our students are more than up for the task.

Can you:

  • Develop procedures to ensure the crew's safety during an emergency?
  • Come up with a nutritious menu for a crewmember, with package conservation in mind?
  • Design a mechanical device to grab tools that float away during a space walk? Everything you need - details on the Design Challenges, resources to find the answers, and cool ways to talk with other students and teachers around the country who are working on the same problem - are only a click away.
